W Abrasives’ Steel Shot and Steel Grit are manufactured in North America and conform to SAE specifications for hardness, screening, and chemistry. W Abrasives’ unique manufacturing process eliminates residual chlorides that are found all other competitive manufacturer’s media. Residual chlorides can be detrimental and can enhance coating failure.
Steel Shot
is a ferrous media that is spherical and is the longest-lasting abrasive available today. It is typically used in heavy-duty descaling, surface profiling, peening and cleaning applications. It measures a 40 – 51 RC Hardness. Steel Shot can be used in either wheel blast or air blast equipment. Due to its extreme durability, it is most beneficial when used in conjunction with reclaim equipment.
Available in sizes from S70 – S780.
Available in 50 lb. Bags and 55 Gal. Steel Drums (2,000 lbs.)
Steel Grit is a ferrous media that is angular in shape. It is typically used in air blast applications for surface profiling. Steel Grit is available in three different hardnesses – GP (40 - 51 RC) GB (47 – 56 RC), GL (54 – 61 RC), GH (Min. 60 RC).
Available is sizes from 12 – 120.
Available in 50 lb. Bags and 55 Gal. Steel Drums (1,500 or 1,700 lbs.)
